How to Build a Goat Farm Shed
you can start a goat farm with 3 or 4 goats or you can start with 100 goats or start with 500 goats, it depends on your business capacity and available capital and your experience, here experience is the most important part because if you don't have experience it is better to start small goat farm with 3 or 4 goats if you have well experience, start with 100 goats but don't start at a time with 500 goats like that, here land also an important factor, for 100 goats shed, you need 3 to 5 acres land, for 500 goats, need 25 acres land to build the shed and feeding and for semi-grazing.
shed place ,fresh drinking water ,land for grass feed ,these are key essentials to start the goat farm including human labor,if you want to start 100 goats ,first allocate 1 acres land ,divide 1 acres land into 2 parts ,half for shed and other half for fresh air resting place in front of shed in the day time , in the other land ,plant nutrient feed crops like corn, subab grass, lucen and the other concentrate nutrient feed then start elevated or raised-platform/shed ,divide it into 10 partitions ,each partition is for 10 goats ,and arrange the feeding and drinking stalls ,and moreover allocate some place for semi-grazing in the day time ,and build the shed north to south because morning and evening time sun rays falls inner side of the shed by this shed will be dried .
How much capital required for a goat farm
To start with 5 or 6 goats ,it is enough 30 to 40 thousand rupees but start with 100 goats ,we require large amount that is shed cost will be 7 lacs and 100 goats cost will be 4 lacs and other costs like grass and labor cost will be 2 lacs ,so we need 12 lacs to start the 100 goat farm shed ,for 500 goats shed ,need 40 to 50 lacs so that ,here my suggestion is ,first of all ,start small goat farm with 10 goats until you get some experience ,once you get experience ,gradually increase your business based on your productivity returns and also you need well care of the animals and patience because at a time you don't get high income ,it will take 1 to 2 years to get the what you invested and more income.
Choose the best breed
when your are selecting the breed ,think carefully because most important part of your business is high productivity breeds so that according to your environment ,select your local female goats and select the high rate male goats like jakrana, sirogi, barbari, jamana puri which may be non local ,here when choosing female or male goats ,we see the their productivity rate .
commonly goat delivery period is 150 days so within year they produce 2 to 4 child goats ,some of them gives birth to 5 to 6 kid goats so we have to choose which female goat fertility rate is high ,based on which we carefully select the breed.each child goat grown into 20 to 28 kgs within 8 months ,so if you have 60 female goats ,each one give birth to 2 lambs thus all child goats become 120 ,after 8 months ,those average profit will be 7 lacs 20 thousand rupees .here also reduce the goat mortality death rate and child goat death rate by giving the nutrient food for mother goats.
How to avoid goat common diseases
Nutrient feed ,fresh air and clean shed ,these are key factors to avoid the unnecessary diseases ,actually there are two goat farming methods ,one is dense farming and partial dense system both are ok but partial scientific dense goat farm is best to keep them healthy and semi-grazing system also best method but here land availability is factor .
most common diseases find in the goats are foot and mouth infects, cold, cough, fever, goat pox ,brucellosis, internal parasites, ppr,et etc....,to avoid these all diseases ,we regularly give them vaccination and proper cleaning of shed and daily check up for each goat by doing this ultimately you will get high productivity which gives you more best returns for what you expected.
