How to Star dairy farming and Its business plan .

Dairy farm business gives us daily income Along with the milk, the manure from animals provides us a good source of organic matter to develop soil fertility and crop yields as well as we can produce the gobar gas from dung  useful for domestic purposes including to run the engines  drawing water from wells. the surplus fodder and agricultural by-products  can be used for feeding the animals .

Estimation cost to start dairy farm.

It totally depends on your financial capacity. you can start with 2 livestock’s or 4 which would be low investment to start dairy farm, in my opinion, we have to increase e our business step by step so our business plan should be very constructive to avoid unexpected lost so it is better to start with 4 buffaloes or cows or if you have your own money other than this you can seek bank help which provides loan to set up your shed and also you need at least 5 to 6 acres land to grow fodder.
For example, i will explain you 10 buffaloes farm per annul.
Buffaloes 10*35 = 350000
Shed construction = 50000
Feed arrangement = 50000
Labor cost 2*60000= 120000
Total estimation approximately  6 lacs.

Estimated sales: 10 buffaloes*10 liters*milk = 100 liters
Each liter cost: 35 INR.
100 liters cost:100*35 = 3500 ,per month 30*3500 = 95000 ,per year approximately  1100000 or 900000.

Constructing dairy shed

Before starting farm ,we apply the modern and constructive scientific methods ,practices and skills to get more benefit from start up business, first of all housing/shed should be well established for that purpose some suggestions here.
Construct shed on dry and raised ground.
Keep away from water logging, marshy and heavy rain fall areas.
The walls minimum height should be 2 to 2.5 m. and damp proof.
Roof should be 4 to 5 m.high and well ventilated.
Build the half meter (1/2) drain at the rear of standing space.
The standing space for each animal should be 2 meters length and 1.5 meter width.
The manger (thotti) needed space 1 meter height and quarter (1/4) meter depth.
Provide proper shed and well drinking water.
Maintain sanitary functions every day.
Avoid the external parasites by spraying the insecticides.
Drain the urine into collection pits and clean the dung daily and some of which use for gobar gas plant.

Select the best breed for dairy farm

Choose the healthy and high yielding animals with the help of animal husbandry officer or any experienced farmer who running the dairy farm.
Buy the freshly calved animals in their first or second or third lactation.
Before buying it, assess the actual milk yield by milking at least two times consecutively.
After purchasing it vaccinate it immediately to avoid any diseases.
Purchase buffaloes Bach wise with at least year gap.
After 6 or 7 lactation's, sell that animal.

Feeding the animals

Feed the livestock with best feeds and fodder
Provide green fodder rationally.
Cut the green fodder at the right stage and chaff it before feeding.
Crush the grains and concentrates and give them flaky and crumbly oil cakes.
Along with clean water and provide them with the proper vitamins and minerals.
Take them away for bizarre place to relax and for some exercise and sprinkle with water to keep them clean and healthy.
Give them proper feed according to their weight about 3% of their total weight.

Milking  the  livestock.

Milk the animals 2 or 3 times per day based on their capacity and at fixed times.
Milk the animal at the clean place and milking  by same person daily.
Before milking clean the udder (poduvu) and dry for some time and treat with some anti-septic lotions.
Milkier also to be healthy .
Sick cows or buffaloes should be milked at end of the milking time to prevent spreading infections.

How  to protect animals in the dairy farm.

We have to observe any signs of illness like reduced food intake, fever, abnormal discharge  and unusual behavior  and if you find any illness suspect ,consult your nearest veterinary doctor and take the proper suggestions.

To avoid the contagious diseases, give them vaccination according to schedule and conduct the periodic tests for Brucellosis, Tuberculosis, John’s disease, mastitis etc. and de worm them regularly and test their dung to detect any internal parasites.

Wash the animals daily for proper sanitation.

Breeding  care in dairy farm.

Give special attention and give them proper space, feed and water and breed the animals in time. Timely breeding will develop the productivity of you business for which use the high quality semen. The begin of oestrus will be starting within 60 to 80 days after calving so breed the animal when it is in peak period. Take care of new born calf and protect it from extreme weather conditions and assist the calf to suckle and feed the colostrum's to calf .cut the naval cord with  sharp knife and treat with iodine immediately and Vaccinates calves
